THEME: WE GIVE THANKS!

SHAPE: HEART

COLOR: PINK (Bring your PINK collage item on Monday)

As we prepare for Thanksgiving, we will learn to recognize and BE THANKFUL for all the wonderful things God has blessed us with. The story of the very first Thanksgiving and all of its traditions will be our study until Thanksgiving break.  We will act out the story and focus especially on giving thanks to God. We will discover that we are all part of an amazing family. We are thankful for our home family, school family and the family of God. Turkeys are funny birds.  How do they fit into the story of Thanksgiving? We will examine pictures of real turkeys. Make turkey crafts and of course, sing songs, read many great turkey books and enjoy interactive flannel board turkey stories. Our dramatic play kitchen is set up for the preschoolers to prepare their Thanksgiving Day FEAST.  The preschoolers will enjoy discovering our Pumpkin Pie scented playdough. We will learn how long ago it wasn’t easy to gather food. Today we can go to the store to purchase all the food we need. We will be making our own butter to enjoy for snack on Wednesday.

Word Wall Words: Family, Thanks, Feast, Sister, Brother, Turkey

Library- We visit the school Library for the first time on Wednesday. We will enjoy checking out our own books. Remember to return the book each week prior to our next library day. (Fees will be charged at the end of the school year for all missing books)

Scholastic book orders are due this Wednesday the 14th.  Order your holiday books now!

Boot Season - As we begin to dress in our winter gear, please remember to mark all boots, mittens, hats, etc. with names.  Please wear boots to school to be left in the hallway to keep our classroom floor clean and dry for play.  Keep TENNIS shoes in their backpacks to change into. Sandals, crocs, dress shoes and dress boots are not appropriate footwear for school.

Large muscle play: At this time, we will remain INSIDE for our large muscle play. We are lucky to have a wonderful space below the Church for the preschoolers to run, ride bikes, try out slides and additional equipment to strengthen their large muscle development. In January, we will decide on a set day of the week to take your preschoolers outside in the snow. At that time, you will be required to bring snow gear. For the students who stay between the hours of 3:00-6:00, plan for your child to remain indoors. Mrs. Quast will determine soon if snow gear will be needed or not. Thanks for your attention to this.
